Australian public safety organisations need to pivot in their response to the challenges of an increasingly challenging and complex operating environment. Providing adaptive leaders for a VUCA world – volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity, this presentation will explore the role of the Australian Institute of Police Management (AIPM) in preparing public safety leaders who can actually thrive in VUCA scenarios. After reviewing the key challenges for public safety organisations, this presentation will demonstrate how the AIPM prepares our current and future public safety leaders to lead in complexity. It will answer the pertinent question, what matters now when leading in continuous crises?
